About the event

HILL OF TARA

The Hill of Tara has been important since the late Stone Age, when a passage tomb was built there. All old Irish roads lead to this critical site. The site became truly significant in the Iron Age (600 BC to 400 AD) and into the Early Christian Period when it rose to supreme prominence – as the Seat of the High kings of Ireland. There are still remarkable sights to be seen and just one example is the Lia Fáil – the great coronation stone, one of the four legendary treasures of the Tuatha Dé Danann – which stands proudly on the monument known as An Forradh.

St. Patrick went to the Hill of Tara in the 5th century AD. And came up against the Druids who were in cohorts with the kings. St Patrick’s obedience to the Holy Spirit, brought about the change in bringing Christianity into Ireland, the place that is really strong with the sound of ancient kings.

"It is exciting for me to invite and to welcome you to The Gathering of The Bannerman because we are now coming together as Kings. This, Co Meath, the county called the ‘Royal County, the County of kings’. It is no accident that this is where Yahweh has opened a door for us to come and to get together with our banners, of our tribes and bring them to lay before Yahweh as the 13th tribe and the 13th age."
